For what reasons is Islam the fastest growing religion in the world?

I have been told its really more of a birth rate thing, not a conversion thing. By conversion....I do not know, break it down to regions. Whereas Christianity is declining in Western Nations, it is RISING in southern africa. Buddhism is on a comeback and Christians and Muslims in India by the masses are reconverting to Hinduism for various reasons, I think political.
