Not receiving my water bills because of a wrongly/illegally installed water meter(NY)?
My friend owns a laundromat that is attached to a restaurant(meaning that it has the same address as the restaurant because it used to be part of the building). It used to have one water meter but now that it is split into a restaurant and laundromat, a second meter was installed to the laundromat. However, it has been a year and my friend that owns that laundromat hasn't received any bills while the restaurant has received its bills as usual. The suspicion is that the water meter was wrongly installed or wasn't registered. What should my friend do? He obviously doesn't want to continue his business and get into legal issues. This is in Brooklyn, NY 11236. I called DEP and they didn't offer a solution..Also if there is a better category for this please say so.
