My boyfriend has started having a cough. and today he started to spit up blood, what can i do besides.....?

besides taking him to the hospital? he has had a small cough for about 2 or 3 days now. and this is the first day he started spiting up blood.. he has never smoked cigerattes in his life. i dont know what to do for him as he is refusing to go to the hospital or take medications. any advice or home remedies i can try for him would be greatly appriciated.. thank you.
